EMHIP has been designed to be a practical service improvement programme to bring about change for Black Minority Ethnic (BME) communities. We aim to reduce inequalities in access, experience and outcomes in mental health care.

Episode 1:
Martha’s Story In this opening episode of Continuing the Journey: Voices of Resilience – The Series, we meet Martha, a long-time service user at EMHIP. Through her warm reflections, Martha shares how she discovered EMHIP and found a renewed sense of purpose and belonging through its community-focused well-being activities. Her story speaks to the power of social connection in overcoming isolation, and the critical role that culturally sensitive support plays in the journey toward mental wellness. Martha’s journey is one of quiet strength, rediscovery, and the healing that emerges from simply being seen, heard, and supported.
This film captures the EMHIP (Ethnic Minority Health Improvement Project) Health and Wellbeing hubs. These are the powerful, real-life stories of individuals within the BME community who have navigated mental health challenges with courage and determination. This documentary highlights the experiences of our service users and staff, illustrating the impact of EMHIP’s culturally sensitive support in fostering healing, hope, and empowerment for Black and ethnic minority communities. From overcoming systemic barriers to building a supportive community, each story reflects the resilience of individuals committed to mental health and wellbeing. Through intimate interviews and shared journeys, “Voices of Resilience” sheds light on the challenges faced by ethnic minority communities and the transformative power of compassionate, culturally informed care.
